Tonight's Guest Panelist, Steve Jones, is an amateur seismologist in Huntsville, AL, and established the AlabamaQuake website at http://alabamaquake.com to share information about recent global earthquake events, amateur seismology education, do-it-yourself seismograph construction details, and seismic activity in North Alabama and surrounding areas. He began to study earthquakes and seismology in the mid-1980s, constructed his first horizontal-type seismometer in the year 2000, and continues to observe worldwide quake activity at his basement seismic station in Huntsville. For the past several years, Steve has been active in North Alabama middle schools with his "Earthquake 101" classroom education program on basic seismology and earthquakes, to help augment earth science education among area students. Tonight's Guest WeatherBrain is an Instructional Designer for the Cooperative Program for Operational Meteorology, Education and Training, better known as COMET. Bryan Guarente did his undergraduate work in Earth Sciences at the University of Northern Colorado. He received his Masters in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has been with the COMET program for over five years.
