WeatherBrains

Longest running weather podcast in the universe. Eleven years in production, James Spann and a group of private sector and NWS meteorologists gather around the digital mahogany table to talk about their favorite subject, with some great guests.

Feb 25, 2014

Our primary guest this evening is Brian Neudorff who joined the Idaho’s First News family in May, 2011. The intermountain west is a far cry from the corn fields of Martinsville, IN, where Brian grew up, and the Great Lakes where he spend most of his career before moving to Southern Idaho.  Brian graduated from Purdue University with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology. During his college years, Brian was active in the Purdue bands playing trumpet. It was his love of music and performing jazz that made Brian decide to go into broadcasting with his meteorology degree. His first TV job was in Bismarck, ND, at KFYR-TV in 2001 as the weekend meteorologist and weekday reporter. From North Dakota, Brian moved to the shores of Lake Erie, in Erie, Pennsylvania in 2003. He continues on as the weekend meteorologist, it was here and later in Rochester New York that his understanding for mountain meteorology would begin.  Brian is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM), an accreditation awarded by the American Meteorological Society. He also holds his seal of approval from the National Weather Association.  Brian's love for the weather began even before he entered grade school. Living in Indiana, he grew up with severe storms and the power and beauty had him hooked. As a child Brian was a regular viewer of The Weather Channel and local weather programs.  Tonight's Guest Panelist is the developer of an app that Bill used as his Pick of the Week last week. The app is Weather Informant, and it is a very useful tool for monitoring NWS text information. So we welcome Pete Curran to the show.  Also joining us is Colin MacIntyre from Long John Index Service of Canada.
